Jakarta, Indonesia 2025
Internationalisation Trips
As part of our commitment to extending students’ learning beyond Singapore, our school organized two internationalisation trips for Primary 4 students in 2025. The trips include a 5-day, 4-night visit to Guangzhou, China, and a 4-day, 3-night visit to Jakarta, Indonesia.
These trips offer students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the local culture, participate in school programmes with our partner schools, and explore educational sites of interest in each country. Our partner school in Guangzhou, China is The Second Primary School of Guangzhou Economic & Technological Development District, while our partner school in Jakarta, Indonesia is Charis Global School.
The internationalisation trips aim to:
- facilitate the exchange of ideas
and meaningful interactions to broaden students’ global perspectives;
- develop 21st Century Competencies,
including global and cross-cultural awareness, effective communication
and collaboration skills, as well as critical, adaptive, and inventive
thinking;
- promote cross-cultural friendships and networking opportunities for students; and
- foster a deeper appreciation of what it means to be Singaporean, strengthening their sense of identity and belonging to the nation.
[B] Internationalisation Trip to Jakarta, Indonesia
From 11 to 14 November 2025, a group of 24 Primary 4 students and 5 teachers embarked on an enriching internationalisation trip to Jakarta, Indonesia, led by our Vice-Principal, Mr Shah Jahan. The highlight of the trip was the collaborative partnership programme at Charis Global School, where our students worked alongside their Indonesian counterparts in a groundbreaking "Trash to Treasure" Design Thinking project, fostering authentic cross-cultural understanding and global citizenship.
This unique programme empowered both student and teacher agency through collaborative curriculum design, moving beyond traditional cultural exchanges to meaningful problem-solving experiences. Students worked together to address real environmental challenges faced by both Singapore and Indonesia, developing critical thinking skills whilst building lasting international friendships.
Beyond the collaborative project work, students immersed themselves in Indonesian culture through traditional batik painting activities, cultural performances, and storytelling sessions that highlighted the historical significance of local traditions. The trip also included an educational visit to PT Liwayway Cikarang factory, where students gained insights into sustainable manufacturing practices and their connection to environmental stewardship.
This transformative experience enhanced our students' global awareness, deepened their understanding of environmental sustainability as a shared global responsibility, and demonstrated how authentic international partnerships can develop 21st-century competencies. The programme exemplified our school's commitment to nurturing confident, globally aware learners who are rooted in Singapore values yet possess a global outlook.
