At Canberra Primary School, the Football Programme provides students with a holistic platform for growth, teamwork, and the development of a lifelong appreciation for the sport. Through structured training and meaningful participation, students are given opportunities to build both their skills and character.
The programme is designed to maximise participation and enjoyment while developing students’ technical abilities through progressive and well-structured training sessions. Students also gain a strong understanding of football rules and tactics, and are prepared to take part in both friendly and competitive matches. Beyond skill development, the programme aims to nurture a sustained interest and passion for football.
Central to the Football Programme are the school’s ICREST values, which guide students’ attitudes and behaviours both on and off the field. Students learn the importance of integrity by playing fairly and making responsible decisions. They demonstrate care by looking after themselves and supporting their teammates, and practise respect towards coaches, peers, opponents, and officials. The value of excellence encourages students to give their best effort and strive to reach their potential, while self-discipline is developed through consistent training and a positive mindset. Teamwork is emphasised as students learn to collaborate, support one another, and celebrate shared achievements.
Through these experiences, students not only develop as footballers but also grow into responsible individuals who embody strong values and sportsmanship.
